Queens was established all the way back in 1683 as one of the original New York counties and became a NYC borough in 1898. As a result, it has some of the oldest buildings in New York City. The housing stock is also incredibly diverse and includes everything from high-rise apartment buildings in urban areas like Flushing and Jackson Heights to suburban areas that include homes with significant land, such as Bayside and Jamaica Estates.

Landmarks in the borough include JFK International Airport and LaGuardia Airport, two of the busiest airports in the world, as well as Citi Field, where the New York Mets play. The US Open tennis tournament also takes place in Queens, and there are dozens and dozens of officially designated landmarks, including the Louis Armstrong House, Flushing High School, and King Manor.
